My successful stint with Le Suivant ignited my passion for startups. So, I joined the LaunchX summer program and founded my first app, PerFIT, which aims to tackle the pain points of online clothes shopping. Ever noticed that the clothes you order online rarely fit? The inconsistency in brand sizing makes online shopping a real headache. PerFIT ('The perfect app to find your perfect fit.') aims to fix this.
After some research, I hit upon the idea of using the front cameras of our phones to scan users' bodies (AR technology) and provide them with numerical dimensions. These dimensions are then sent to the app, which stores the clothing dimensions of clothes across brands, and ultimately, the app recommends to users the size they should get for different brands. This project was a complex one, requiring a fusion of technology with design. Ultimately, I created an MVP (minimal viable product). I also worked out the business model, where customers pay a monthly subscription to use, while fashion brands/businesses pay annual contracts to stay featured within the app.
Finally, we pitched the idea to experts in the tech start-up industry. Our design was lauded as innovative. In the end, I was also awarded “Best Designer” of the entire cohort, and I’d successfully raised over 2200 USD via crowdfunding, receiving a certificate of superior sales. Currently, the app is in development and will be available in the app store soon.

PerFIT takes privacy concerns seriously. Users’ body dimensions are 100% confidential unless they are willing to disclose it when posting in the community forum. Their body measurements are stored in numeric forms ONLY. No pictures or visuals of users’ bodies will be stored on the cloud database.
The APP’s Competitive Edge
The APP’s competitive edge is the AR Fit-Finder. Utilizing the front camera on phones, PerFIT scans and processes users’ vital body measurements (e.g., Height, Hip Circumference, Shoulder Width) and stores them in a cloud database. Then, the APP’s back end matches these measurements with various brands’ clothing dimensions and ultimately provides users with accurate size recommendations.
It’s high time we stop thinking that we need to fit our clothes; it’s time for our clothes to fit us.
After scanning and obtaining users’ body dimensions, PerFIT’s browsing section provides various products, from T-shirts to Hoodies (even dresses), that indicate the specific size that best suits their body. Users can search for a specific brand or product using the search bar.
