PerFIT is the app start-up I founded in the LaunchX summer program to fix inconsistent sizing in online clothes shopping. Its AR Fit-Finder scans body measurements with the phone’s front camera, matches them against each brand’s clothing dimensions and recommends the right size — alongside a shop and a community for outfit posts with sizing details. It earned me Best Designer of the cohort, raised US$2,200+ in crowdfunding and launched on the App Store.

Best Designer — LaunchX

Ever noticed that the clothes you order online rarely fit? Inconsistent sizing between brands makes online shopping a real headache — frustrating for shoppers, and a source of textile waste from unsellable returns.

I joined the LaunchX summer program and founded my first app to fix it: PerFIT, the perfect app to find your perfect fit.

It’s high time we stop thinking that we need to fit our clothes; it’s time for our clothes to fit us.”

01The idea

Scan once, fit every brand

After some research I landed on using the phone’s front camera to scan the body — AR — and turn it into numerical dimensions such as height, hip circumference and shoulder width. Those numbers go to a cloud database; the back end matches them against the clothing dimensions it stores for each brand, and recommends the size to get in every one of them.

It was a complex project that fused technology with design. I took it to a minimum viable product, and worked out the business model alongside it.

02Privacy

Numbers, never pictures

Body data is personal, and PerFIT treats it that way. Users’ dimensions stay 100% confidential unless they choose to share them in a community post, and they are stored in numeric form only — no pictures or visuals of anyone’s body are ever kept on the cloud database.

Onboarding says so up front, ending on a confidential declaration. The interface stays minimal: dominant white and light grey, with a calming purple reserved for the actions.

03Shop & share

Sized for you

Once PerFIT has your dimensions, the shopping section only recommends sizes around them: tops and shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, even dresses, each marked with the size that best suits your body, and searchable by brand or product.

The community forum lets creators share outfit posts with their sizing details, so others can visualise the fit before they buy.

From pitch to App Store

PerFIT runs on a dual business model: shoppers subscribe monthly, while fashion brands pay annual contracts to stay featured in the app.

We pitched it to experts in the tech start-up industry, who lauded the design as innovative, and it went on to gain recognition from international VCs at a start-up conference. I was named Best Designer of the entire cohort, raised US$2,200+ through crowdfunding — earning a certificate of superior sales — and the app launched on the App Store.
